05.

Agri Voltaic (Solar Farming Project)

Agri Voltaic (SOLAR FARMING PROJECT) has been started by GPCL through which to stop the global warming which is increasing day by day as per the present environmental condition and to do sustainable farming by cultivating crops like strawberry, aloe vera, pineapple and dragon fruit by modern type of farming under solar plate. In the report stated 1642 tons CO2 saving per year and 55814 neem trees planted per year through running 1 MG solar project, so this steps toward for sustainable environment and agriculture.

06.

IPM farming system

Day by day, the cause of terrible diseases like cancer, diabetes, pregnancy problem in women etc. is the food and water we consume during our daily life in human, in which the amount of residues of pesticides and chemical fertilizers has been found. In order to reduce the amount of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in our daily food and drinking water, it has become necessary to do IPM system of farming, which involves the use of organic and biofertilizers in a scientific manner, as well as the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers as recommended by the University of Agriculture. It has become necessary at this stage.

Cultivation of Chicoree

Soil and climate dependent crops such as Chicoree are planted by GPCL for our area and are directly purchased by GPCL and then sorting, grading and value addition and sold directly with multinational companies.

08.

Cultivation of Paigambari wheat

Wheat is a staple crop used in our daily diet. The wheat we use for food is hybrid and GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) which has higher gluten content and less minerals than NON-GMO wheat. Paigambari wheat is NON-GMO wheat has a low glycaemic index (55) and gluten content and is high in protein then other varieties, making it an ideal choice for people with diabetes. Paigambari wheat is the only variety that contains folic acid, making it an excellent food for pregnant and lactating women. So, Paigambari wheat is planted by GPCL farmers under the guidance of GPCL team for keeping good human health and sustainable farming.

Eri Silk Project

Gujarat is the India’s largest producer of castor in India, accounting for about 85.09 percent in total production of castor in the country (2019-20). The productivity of castor in Gujarat is the highest not only in India but also in the world. Not only area and production of castor but also its export is the on increasing trend. However, the castor farmers are facing the problems in the cultivation of crops.
Eri silk is the product of the domesticated silkworm Samia ricini, found mainly in North East India and some part of China and Japan. The name “eri” is derived from Assamese word “era”, which means “castor”, as the silkworm feeds on castor plants. So, our north Gujarat farmers are already cultivated castor crops and earning good income but GPCL aims that more income could be generated by applying small scale of Eri Silk project. So, our GPCL team connected with Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India through Kalyan foundation in Gujarat and training at Central Silk Board, Bengaluru and Assam. After that training programme, we are start small scale Eri Silk project from some villages like Hasanpura, Haripura, Jethipura, Pipodar, Kakoshi, Malekpur and Kidotar in North Gujarat.
The Eri cocoon production is 22.2 kg from 200 DFL’S in the year of 2021, 287.74 kg from 750 DFL’S in the year of 2022 and 237.21 kg from 800 DFL’S in the year of 2023 at some villages like Hasanpura, Haripura, Jethipura, Pipodar, Kakoshi, Malekpur and Kidotar in North Gujarat.
So, our farmers could be generated good income in future and GPCL team encourage and guide the farmers to apply the Eri Silk project by supported Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India.
